LUDÕ
THE CHALLENGE
Following the success of JOYÀ in Riviera Maya, Grupo Vidanta invited Cirque du Soleil to envision a new project capable of capturing visitors’ attention, enhancing the destination, and strengthening audience engagement.

The challenge is to create a purpose-built theatre featuring spectacular aquatic performances and large-scale immersive scenography, while offering a unique artistic and culinary experience in a dinner-show format.

THE SOLUTION
Cirque du Soleil develops LUDÕ, a resident show presented in a custom-built 696-seat theatre, surrounded by monumental aquarium walls and offering a 360-degree viewing experience. Using water as both a source of inspiration and a performance medium, the show combines acrobatics, underwater imagery, immersive storytelling, and fine dining.

The scenic design, including a programmable rain curtain and a stage capable of holding up to 50 mm of water, creates a distinctive multisensory experience that goes far beyond a traditional show format.
THE RESULTS
ABOUT LUDÕ
The story follows Ludovico the Visionary on his quest for the first source of water, a symbol of inspiration and universal love, as performers dive, float, and fly through a poetic underwater world. Animated puppets, suspended flutists, talking feet, and bells resonating beneath the water create a universe where creativity and magic become infinite. Like an unexplored cenote, the theatre reveals an immersive setting that interacts with the performers, delivering a truly unique experience that goes far beyond a traditional act.
